Bad Magic

Manny almazan                                                                                                                              3/6/18

The title of the book I am reading is Bad Magic by Pseudonymous Bosch. The genre of the book is azsfiction. Bad Magic is about a boy named Clay that just started a new year at school and is very shy around other people. But when writing from his journal mysteriously ends up on the school wall his parents send him to Earth Ranch a camp for troubled kids on a volcano island. But when he arrives there are even more strange surprises that start to happen like talking animals and ghosts.  I liked this book because it was very creative and had a lot of detail. Another thing is that the characters really play their roles in the book and are very important.

A series of unfortunate events

Manny Almazan                                                                                                                            2/5/18

The book A Series Of Unfortunate Events is a fiction book written by Lemony Snicket.
A series of unfortunate events is about three intelligent children whose lives are very unfortunate. Violet the oldest, Klaus the middle, and Sunny. whose parents die in a tragic fire and the children are now orphans but their family is very wealthy and rich so all the money goes to the eldest which is Violet . But when they get adopted by a man of the name Count Olaf every thing goes wrong again because it turns out that Count Olaf is a terrible man. He makes them clean he’s dirty house, cook for his horrible friends, gave them only one bed, and abused them.  I don’t think that I had a favorite part in the book because all of the book is their lives going wrong and nothing goes right. I like this book because first I saw the show and I thought the book would be very different but it turns out that I like the book more then the show.

One Word

My one word is “Effort”. I chose this word because I really don’t give all of my effort most of the time. So this year I really want to give it my all so I can do the best I can in school. This word connects to my life because I need to put effort in my school work so I can get better grades. This word means to always give it your best try so you can be the best you, you can. The first step to live this word is to give everything I work on all of my effort so I may do good in school. I will hold myself accountable by giving myself little goals. This word connects to at least three areas of my life, school, home, and Boy Scouts. School because my grades could use more effort. Home because I should put more effort by helping around the house more. Lastly Boy Scouts because I want to make eagle before I can’t any more.

Stay Alive

Stay Alive is a realistic fiction book written by Joseph Menninger who also makes a lot of other books based on the Stay Alive series. This book is about a group of people that are stranded on a island after their plane crashed so they need to stay alive with limited supplies while one part of the group wants to do one thing and the other group want to do the other. My favorite part about this book is seeing how they adapt to the island by making shelter for their protection because me myself am a Boy Scout so I go camping a lot and we have to set up tents and make fires. The group were a bunch of kids the were on a tv show that had an unfortunate event that lead them to crash on what looked like a deserted island. I liked this book because it showed that any thing is possible if you work as a team.

Book blog

                                   Brave                  11/16/17
By:Svetlana Chmakova
Brave is a graphic novel by Svetlana . C witch is a series to another book called Akward witch is also a good book and I really recommend it  because it teaches you how to work together as a group.
Brave is about a boy name Jensen who is a victim of bullying. But things get worse when math is getting hard, getting along with friends is hard, and picking a partner for a class project is hard since he’s the last one to get picked. My favorite part in the book is when he starts daydreaming about what his life will look like because he talks about zombies and the drawings are really cool.
I like this book because it teaches you life lessons like what to do if your being bulled or even how to make friends. I would recommend this book because it’s really funny but at the same time it could be very emotional because sometimes you can relate to what’s happening in the book.

Quarter 1 reflection

Quarter 1 has been really good for me and I like all of my classes because all of my teachers are really nice and my class mates are really nice and my grades are average right now. Somethings that I could improve for next quarter is to set more goals for my classes so I could achieve them. Another thing I could improve is participating more in class. I don’t really do any sports and don’t plan to because I usually have a job after school so I don’t really have time for any after school activity’s  and that is really all that I have for my quarter 1.

Movie and book comparisons

The Outsiders book and movie have a lot of differences and similarities. Some differences between the book and the movie are when pony,Johnny, and Dally meet Cherry and Marcia that happens a little later in the book but in the movie it happened in the beginning. Another difference is in the book it told us that Johnny was older then Ponyboy and in the movie Ponyboy looked older for some reason.
In the book-movie there was also some similarities like when Johnny died it said that a beam holding up the church hit him on the back and the whole thing fell and the exact same thing happened in the movie it showed that a beam hit him and the church fell. Another similarity is when Johnny killed the Soc in the book it said that it happened in the park by the fountain and that was the scene in the movie.  I think that the actors really played their parts and they played the emotions from the book and the movie was surprisingly really close to the book.
